Preface to the WARP SCOPES manual

1 min read

This manual was developed as an aid to understanding and assigning classifications to policies issued through the Washington USL&H Assigned Risk Plan. It is used in conjunction with the WARP Underwriting Manual as a guide to proper assignment of classifications. A Servicing Carrier, acting on behalf of WARP, is required to follow the classifications in this manual but if there is a conflict between the material contained in this manual and the WARP Underwriting Manual then the information in the Underwriting Manual takes precedence.

Much of the material contained in this manual has been adapted from material supplied by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) and is used with NCCI’s permission. The manual is subject to updates as frequently as WARP determines it is necessary to provide new interpretations, clarifications or amendments.

The Washington United States Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act Assigned Risk Plan (WARP) was established by Washington state to provide USL&H Workers’ Compensation Insurance coverage for Washington Employers unable to purchase it through the normal private insurance market. WARP is authorized by RCW 48.22.070 and Chapter 22 of Title 284 of the Washington Administrative Code.
